The Letter of Paul to Philemon

Philemon 1 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow laborer,

Philemon 2 and to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the Assembly in your house:

Philemon 3 grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philemon 4 I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers,

Philemon 5 it is being reported about your love and faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and for all the saints;

Philemon 6 that the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the full knowledge of every good thing which is in us into Christ Jesus.

Philemon 7 For we have great joy and comfort in your love, because the inner parts of the saints are revitalized by you, brother.

Philemon 8 Therefore, though I might be very bold in Christ to command you to do what is proper,

Philemon 9 yet through love I rather entreat you, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

Philemon 10 I beg you for my child Onesimus, who I have begotten in my bonds:

Philemon 11 which in time past was to you useless, but now useful to you and to me:

Philemon 12 who I have sent again: you therefore receive him, that is, my own inner parts:

Philemon 13 who I would have kept with me, that in your place he might have ministered to me in the bonds of the gospel:

Philemon 14 but without your consent I would do nothing; that your good deed might not be done out of compulsion, but willingly.

Philemon 15 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that you should receive him perpetually;

Philemon 16 not now as a slave, but above a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

Philemon 17 If you count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

Philemon 18 If he has wronged you, or owes you anything, put that on my account;

Philemon 19 I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will repay it: yet I do not say to you how you owe me even your own self besides.

Philemon 20 Yes, brother, let me profit from you in the Lord: revitalize my inner parts in the Lord.

Philemon 21 Having confidence in your obedience, I wrote to you, knowing that you will also do more than I say.

Philemon 22 Also prepare hospitality for me: for I trust that through your prayers I will be a gift given to you.

Philemon 23 Greetings to you from Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;

Philemon 24 and Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellow laborers.

Philemon 25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
