Chapter 6

Matt. 6:1 Watch yourself, that you do not display your righteousness before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward of Your Father in heaven.

Matt. 6:2 Therefore, when you are doing your philanthropy, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have recognition of men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

Matt. 6:3 But when you are philanthropic, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing:

Matt. 6:4 that your philanthropy may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret Himself, will reward you openly!

Matt. 6:5 When you pray, you will not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

Matt. 6:6 But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly!

Matt. 6:7 But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.

Matt. 6:8 Therefore be not like them: for Your Father knows what things you have need of before You ask Him.

Matt. 6:9 Therefore in a figurative manner pray: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name.

Matt. 6:10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Matt. 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Matt. 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors.

Matt. 6:13 And lead us not into testing but deliver us from the wicked one: for Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Matt. 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Matt. 6:15 but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matt. 6:16 Moreover, when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to fast. Truly I say to you, they have their reward.

Matt. 6:17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;

Matt. 6:18 that you appear to men not to fast, but to Your Father who is in secret: and Your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly!

Matt. 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Matt. 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Matt. 6:21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matt. 6:22 The lamp of the body is the eye: therefore if your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light.

Matt. 6:23 But if your eye is wicked, your whole body will be full of darkness. Therefore if the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matt. 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Matt. 6:25 Therefore, I say to you, take no anxious thought for your soul, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what will you put on. Is not the soul more than nutrition, and the body than clothing?

Matt. 6:26 Behold the birds of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet Your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

Matt. 6:27 Who of you by anxious thought can add one hour to his life?

Matt. 6:28 Why worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they labor not, neither do they spin:

Matt. 6:29 yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Matt. 6:30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Matt. 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, what will we eat? Or, what will we drink? Or, how will we be clothed?

Matt. 6:32 For the nations seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

Matt. 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things will be added to you.

Matt. 6:34 Therefore do not anxious for the next day: for the next day will care for the things of itself. Each day has its own trouble.
