The 2nd Letter of Peter
Chapter 1
2nd Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a slave and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained an equally priceless faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:
2nd Peter 1:2 grace and peace be multiplied to you through the full knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
2nd Peter 1:3 therefore His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that has called us to glory and moral excellence:
2nd Peter 1:4 through which are given to us peerless and precious promises: that through these you might be companions of the divine nature, escaping from the corruption that is in the world’s cravings.
2nd Peter 1:5 Now these things also, bringing in all diligence, supply in your faith moral excellence; and to moral excellence knowledge;
2nd Peter 1:6 and to knowledge self-control; and to self-control perseverance; and to perseverance dedication;
2nd Peter 1:7 and to dedication brotherly love; and to brotherly love divine love.
2nd Peter 1:8 For these things being present in you, and increasing, they constitute you not inactive nor unfruitful in the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2nd Peter 1:9 But he that these things are not present is blind, and is near sighted, and being forgetful that he was cleansed from his past sins.
2nd Peter 1:10 Therefore instead, brothers, be diligent to make your calling and choice definite: for if you practice these things, you will not ever stumble:
2nd Peter 1:11 therefore in this manner the way in will be supplied to you richly into the perpetual kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2nd Peter 1:12 Therefore I will always be about to be reminding you of these things, though you know them, and having been established in the present reality.
2nd Peter 1:13 Yes, I regard it right, as long as I am in this tent, to wake you up by putting you in remembrance;
2nd Peter 1:14 knowing that I must shortly put away my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed to me.
2nd Peter 1:15 Moreover, I will endeavor that you may be able after my exodus to make a memory of these things always.
2nd Peter 1:16 For we have not carried out expertly concocted myths, when we made known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His Majesty.
2nd Peter 1:17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to Him from the Excellent Glory, this is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2nd Peter 1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
2nd Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; where you do well to pay attention, as to a lamp that shines in a dismal place, until the day dawn, and the morning star rises in your hearts:
2nd Peter 1:20 knowing this first, that not ever is prophecy of the Scripture brought forth from a private source.
2nd Peter 1:21 For no prophecy was ever produced any time by the will of man: but men spoke from God as they were moved along by the Holy Spirit.
Chapter 2
2nd Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who covertly will bring in alongside fatal factions, even rejecting the Master that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2nd Peter 2:2 And many will carry out their destruction; by reason of whom the way of reality will be spoken against.
2nd Peter 2:3 And through covetousness will they with superficial words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time will not delay, and their destruction is not dozing off.
2nd Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the messengers that sinned, but hurled them down to Tartarus, and delivered them into depths of gloom, to be guarded for judgment;
2nd Peter 2:5 and spared not the ancient world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
2nd Peter 2:6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an example to those that live ungodly, the things about to come;
2nd Peter 2:7 and delivered righteous Lot, worn downwith the filthy conduct of the wicked:
2nd Peter 2:8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, harassed his righteous soul daily with their lawless deeds).
2nd Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of trial, and to reserve the unrighteous for judgment day to be punished:
2nd Peter 2:10 but especially them that walk after the flesh in polluted desires, and hold in contempt lordship. These are presumptuous, self-willed, they are not afraid to be blaspheming honored ones.
2nd Peter 2:11 Even angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not a blaspheming judgment down upon them before the Lord.
2nd Peter 2:12 But these, as physical unreasonable animals, born to be captured and slaughtered, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and will utterly be corrupted in their own corruption;
2nd Peter 2:13 and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as they lead the way in the day time in self- indulgence. They are spots and blemishes, indulging themselves in luxury with their own delusion while they feast with you;
2nd Peter 2:14 fully possessed with eyes of an adulteress, and unable to stop from sin; baiting unstable souls: a heart that has been trained in covetousness; cursed children:
2nd Peter 2:15 which have forsaken the straight way, and have wandered away, following the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
2nd Peter 2:16 on the other hand he was rebuked for his unrighteousness: the dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.
2nd Peter 2:17 These are waterless wells, clouds that are driven by the strong winds; for whom the murkiness of darkness has been reserved into the new covenant age.
2nd Peter 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much sexual lawlessness, but those that were genuine escaped from those behaving in delusion.
2nd Peter 2:19 While they promise them freedom, they themselves are the slaves of corruption: for by whom a man is overcome, by the same is he brought into slavery.
2nd Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are entangled again in it, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2nd Peter 2:21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
2nd Peter 2:22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, the dog returns to his own vomit; and the pig that was washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.
Chapter 3
2nd Peter 3:1 I now write to you, beloved, this second letter; in which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2nd Peter 3:2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior:
2nd Peter 3:3 knowing this first, that there will be coming in the end of the days, mocking mockers, walking after their own lusts,
2nd Peter 3:4 and saying, where is the promise of His Presence? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things are ongoing as they were from the beginning of the creation.
2nd Peter 3:5 For this they willingly ignore, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2nd Peter 3:6 in which that world then was, being flooded with water, was destroyed:
2nd Peter 3:7 but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved for fire into the day of judgment and destruction of godless men.
2nd Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not ignore this one thing, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day.
2nd Peter 3:9 Concerning His promise, the Lord is not postponing, as some men regard postponement; but is forbearing toward us, not desiring that any would be destroyed, but that all would come to repentance.
2nd Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a roaring thunder, and the (Jewish) elements will dissolve with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are in it will be burned utterly.
2nd Peter 3:11 Now then that all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in consecrated conduct and devotion,
2nd Peter 3:12 expecting and speeding up the Presence of the day of God, in which the heavens being set on fire will be dissolved, and the (Jewish) elements will disintegrate by melting?
2nd Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness.
2nd Peter 3:14 Therefore, beloved, since you are expecting this, be diligent that you may be found by Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
2nd Peter 3:15 And regard the self- restraint of our Lord salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given to him has written to you;
2nd Peter 3:16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things; in which some things are hard to understand, which they that are unlearned and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
2nd Peter 3:17 You therefore, beloved, seeing you knew these things previously, be on guard unless you also, being led away by the wandering of the degenerates, fall from your own stability.
2nd Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and into the New Covenant Age from the Old Covenant Age, Amen.
