The 1st Letter of Paul to Timothy
Chapter 1
1st Tim. 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the mandate of God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, who is our hope;
1st Tim. 1:2 to Timothy, my authentic son in faith: grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
1st Tim. 1:3 As I called upon you to remain at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia that you might charge some that they do not teach different teachings,
1st Tim. 1:4 neither give heed to myths and incomplete genealogies, which present arguments, rather than God’s building which is in faith: so do.
1st Tim. 1:5 Now the goal of the mandate is love out of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and authentic faith:
1st Tim. 1:6 from which some having missed the goal; having turned aside to meaningless speaking;
1st Tim. 1:7 desiring to be teachers of the Law; comprehending neither what they say, nor concerning what they positively assert.
1st Tim. 1:8 But we know that the Law is good, if a man uses it lawfully;
1st Tim. 1:9 knowing this, that the Law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1st Tim. 1:10 for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is set against healthy teaching;
1st Tim. 1:11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was entrusted to me.
1st Tim. 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who empowers me, for He counted me faithful, placing me into service;
1st Tim. 1:13 who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1st Tim. 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1st Tim. 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of who I am chief.
1st Tim. 1:16 However for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to those who are about to be believing on Him to life infinite.
1st Tim. 1:17 Now to the King infinite, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory into this age and the New Covenant Age. Amen.
1st Tim. 1:18 This mandate I set before you, child Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on you, that in them you might be fighting a good warfare;
1st Tim. 1:19 possessing faith, and a good conscience; which some having pushed away concerning the faith have shipwrecked:
1st Tim. 1:20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have given over to Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
Chapter 2
1st Tim. 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
1st Tim. 2:2 for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
1st Tim. 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
1st Tim. 2:4 who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the reality.
1st Tim. 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus;
1st Tim. 2:6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be a testimony in His own time.
1st Tim. 2:7 Into which I have been placed a herald, and an apostle, I speak the reality in Christ, and do not lie, a teacher of the nations in faith and reality.
1st Tim. 2:8 Therefore I want husbands to pray everywhere, lifting holy hands, apart from rage and discord.
1st Tim. 2:9 In like manner also, that wives adorn themselves in appropriate decorum, with modesty and sober mindedness; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing;
1st Tim. 2:10 but that which becomes wives promising godly respect with good works.
1st Tim. 2:11 Let the wives learn in rest with all submission.
1st Tim. 2:12 But I do not turn over to a wife the matter of teaching, nor to domineer her husband, but to be at rest.
1st Tim. 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve
1st Tim. 2:14 and Adam was not deceived, but the wife being thoroughly deceived was in the violation.
1st Tim. 2:15 Nonetheless they will be saved in childbearing if they abide in faith and love and sanctification with a sound mind.
Chapter 3
1st Tim. 3:1 This is a worthy saying, if anyone yearns to oversee, he has set his passion upon a noble work.
1st Tim. 3:2 An overseer then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, self-controlled, of good behavior, given to hospitality, able to teach;
1st Tim. 3:3 not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of money; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
1st Tim. 3:4 one that leads with care well before his own house, having his children in subjection with all reverence;
1st Tim. 3:5 (for if a man does not know how to lead with care his own house, how will he take care of the Assembly of God?)
1st Tim. 3:6 Not a new believer, unless being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation by the Devil.
1st Tim. 3:7 Moreover he must have a good reputation with those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the Devil.
1st Tim. 3:8 Likewise the deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not obsessed with much wine, not greedy for money;
1st Tim. 3:9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
1st Tim. 3:10 And let these also first be tested; then let them serve, being found blameless.
1st Tim. 3:11 Even so must their wives be respectable, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
1st Tim. 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, lead with care for their children and their own houses well.
1st Tim. 3:13 For they that have served well gain for themselves a good status, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
1st Tim. 3:14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly:
1st Tim. 3:15 but if postponed, that you may know how you ought to behave yourself in the house of God, which is the Assembly of the living God, the pillar and base of the reality.
1st Tim. 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the nations, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Chapter 4
1st Tim. 4:1 Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and teachings of demons;
1st Tim. 4:2 speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1st Tim. 4:3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and fully know the reality.
1st Tim. 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1st Tim. 4:5 for it is made clean by the word of God and intercession.
1st Tim. 4:6 Lay out to the brothers these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of healthy teaching, to which you have followed closely.
1st Tim. 4:7 But refuse profane and old wives’ tales and exercise yourself toward godliness.
1st Tim. 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little: but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is about to be.
1st Tim. 4:9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.
1st Tim. 4:10 Therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.
1st Tim. 4:11 These things command and teach.
1st Tim. 4:12 Let no man despise your youth; but be a pattern to the believers, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1st Tim. 4:13 Until I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to teaching.
1st Tim. 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands by the eldership.
1st Tim. 4:15 Meditate on these things; give yourself wholly to them; that your progress may appear to all.
1st Tim. 4:16 Take heed to yourself, and to the teaching; continue in them: for in doing this you will both save yourself, and them that hear you.
Chapter 5
1st Tim. 5:1 Rebuke not an elder but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as brothers;
1st Tim. 5:2 the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
1st Tim. 5:3 Honor widows that are widows indeed.
1st Tim. 5:4 But if any widow has children or nephews, let them learn first to show respect at home, and to repay their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
1st Tim. 5:5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusts in God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.
1st Tim. 5:6 But she that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.
1st Tim. 5:7 And these things charge, that they may be blameless.
1st Tim. 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
1st Tim. 5:9 Let a widow not be taken into the number under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man.
1st Tim. 5:10 Well known for good works; if she has raised children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
1st Tim. 5:11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to grow wanton against Christ, they will marry;
1st Tim. 5:12 having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
1st Tim. 5:13 And beside this they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but gossips also and busy bodies, speaking things which they ought not.
1st Tim. 5:14 Therefore I desire that the younger women marry, bear children, manage the house and give no occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
1st Tim. 5:15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
1st Tim. 5:16 If any man or woman that believes has widows, let them help them, and let not the Assembly be charged; that it may help them that are widows indeed.
1st Tim. 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labor in the word and teaching.
1st Tim. 5:18 For the scripture says, you will not muzzle the ox that treads out the corn. And the laborer is worthy of his reward.
1st Tim. 5:19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder, unless before two or three witnesses.
1st Tim. 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
1st Tim. 5:21 I charge you before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
1st Tim. 5:22 On no man lay hands hastily, neither be partner of other men’s sins: guard your innocence.
1st Tim. 5:23 Drink no longer only water but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your often infirmities.
1st Tim. 5:24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some they follow after.
1st Tim. 5:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
Chapter 6
1st Tim. 6:1 Let all that are slaves under the yoke, to esteem their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and His teaching is not blasphemed.
1st Tim. 6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
1st Tim. 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teaching which is according to godliness;
1st Tim. 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but obsessed about disputes and strife of words, of which comes envy, slanders, strife, evil suspicions,
1st Tim. 6:5 useless arguments of men with corrupt minds, and destitute of the reality, supposing that godliness is a means of gain: from such remove yourselves.
1st Tim. 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1st Tim. 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1st Tim. 6:8 And having food and clothing let us be therefore content.
1st Tim. 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1st Tim. 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1st Tim. 6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
1st Tim. 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on infinite life, to which you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1st Tim. 6:13 I give you charge in the sight of God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
1st Tim. 6:14 that you keep this commandment unblemished and irreprehensible, until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1st Tim. 6:15 which in His own time He will exhibit, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of the ones reigning, and Lord of the ones exercising authority;
1st Tim. 6:16 who alone possesses immortality, making their home in light inaccessible; whom no man perceived, nor are even able to be perceiving: to whom be honor and power infinitely! Amen!
1st Tim. 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not conceited, nor trust in uncertain wealth, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;
1st Tim. 6:18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to share;
1st Tim. 6:19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time about to come, that they may lay hold of infinite life.
1st Tim. 6:20 O Timothy, guard the entrusted deposit, turn away from profane and empty speaking, and contrary positions of pseudo knowledge.
1st Tim. 6:21 Which some publicly declaring have missed the goal regarding the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
