The 1st Letter of Peter
Chapter 1
1st Peter 1:1 Peter,1 an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those outsiders residing alongside the people, scattered seed in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1st Peter 1:2 chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: grace to you, and peace be multiplied.
1st Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his overflowing mercy has regenerated us into a living anticipation through the resurrection of Jesus Christ out from the dead,
1st Peter 1:4 to an inheritance incorruptible, flawless, unable to fade, guarded in the heavens for you,
1st Peter 1:5 those protected in the power of God through faith into a deliverance ready to be revealed in the last season.
1st Peter 1:6 In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you are in sorrows through manifold testing:
1st Peter 1:7 that the proving of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tested with fire, may be found for acclamation and honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
1st Peter 1:8 Whom having not seen, you are loving; in Whom, though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and being glorified:
1st Peter 1:9 receiving the goal of your faith, even the deliverance of your souls.
1st Peter 1:10 Of which deliverance the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come into you:
1st Peter 1:11 searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did make known, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow.
1st Peter 1:12 To whom it was revealed, that not for themselves, but they were serving us these things, who are now declaring to you by them that have preached the gospel to you in the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
1st Peter 1:13 Therefore having prepared your minds thoroughly, being sober, and expecting the completion of the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1st Peter 1:14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the patterns according to the your previous desires in ignorance:
1st Peter 1:15 but as He which has called you is holy, so be holy in all conduct;
1st Peter 1:16 because it is written, you be holy; for I am holy.
1st Peter 1:17 And if you are calling to the Father, who judges fairly according to each one’s work, act properly throughout the time of your journey in fear:
1st Peter 1:18 since as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your aimless manner of life handed down from your fathers;
1st Peter 1:19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb flawless and spotless:
1st Peter 1:20 who indeed was foreknown before the downfall of the world, but was made clear in the time of the end for you,
1st Peter 1:21 who through Him are believing into God, that raised Him out from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and expectation be in God.
1st Peter 1:22 Having consecrated your souls in obeying the reality through the Spirit into authentic love for the brothers, love one another intensely with a pure heart:
1st Peter 1:23 having been regenerated, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and continues into the New Covenant age.
1st Peter 1:24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the fields. The grass withers and the flower fades away,
1st Peter 1:25 but the word of the Lord continues into the new covenant age. And this word is the gospel to you.
Chapter 2
1st Peter 2:1 Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all slandering,
1st Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, yearn for the unadulterated milk of the word that you may grow into salvation:
1st Peter 2:3 if so you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
1st Peter 2:4 Coming towards Him, as to a living stone, being rejected indeed by men, but chosen of God and precious,
1st Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house, into a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1st Peter 2:6 Therefore also it is contained in the Scripture, behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, chosen and precious: and he that is believing on Him will in no way be disgraced.
1st Peter 2:7 To you believing then, He is priceless: but the unbelieving, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the chief cornerstone,
1st Peter 2:8 and a stone of stumbling, and a rock causing scandal, even to those who get tripped up against the word, refusing to believe: into which also they were appointed.
1st Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen species, a regal priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people; that you should declare far and wide the moral excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1st Peter 2:10 which at one time were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1st Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I implore you as strangers and outsiders residing alongside the people, abstain from fleshly cravings, which war against the soul;
1st Peter 2:12 having your conduct exemplary among the nations: that, when they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they will behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1st Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every constitution of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
1st Peter 2:14 or to governors, as to them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
1st Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
1st Peter 2:16 as free, and not using your freedom even as a covering for wickedness, but as the servants of God.
1st Peter 2:17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the Emperor.
1st Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the perverse.
1st Peter 2:19 Indeed this is grace, if a man endures sorrows, suffering unjustly because of conscience towards God.
1st Peter 2:20 For what credit is it, if, when you are mistreated for sinning, you endure it? But if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you endure it, this is acceptable with God.
1st Peter 2:21 For even to this you were called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow in His footprints:
1st Peter 2:22 Who did not sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1st Peter 2:23 Who, when He was reviled, did not revile back; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judges righteously:
1st Peter 2:24 Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being separated from sins, we are to be living to righteousness: by His wounds you were healed.
1st Peter 2:25 For you were as sheep going astray; but now turned toward the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Chapter 3
1st Peter 3:1 In the same way, you wives, being in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without word, be gained by the conduct of the wives;
1st Peter 3:2 while they behold your pure and respectful conduct.
1st Peter 3:3 Whose beauty should not come from merely outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of fine apparel;
1st Peter 3:4 but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that incorruptible part, even the ornament of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in the presence of God.
1st Peter 3:5 For in this manner formerly the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
1st Peter 3:6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, showing yourself beneficent, and not frightened away by any fear.
1st Peter 3:7 Likewise, you husbands, make a home together according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being co-heirs of the grace of life; that your prayer life is not impeded.
1st Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you be of the same mind, sympathetic, with brotherly love, be tender-hearted, be friendly:
1st Peter 3:9 not rewarding evil for evil, or insult for insult: but with continual blessing; knowing that you are called, that you should inherit a blessing.
1st Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no deceit:
1st Peter 3:11 let him turn away from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it.
1st Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
1st Peter 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good?
1st Peter 3:14 But even if you suffer for righteousness’ sake, blessed are you: and do not be frightened away of their terror, neither be agitated;
1st Peter 3:15 but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and being prepared always to give a defense to everyone that asks you for the word concerning the hope that is in you with gentleness and respect:
1st Peter 3:16 having a good conscience; that, though they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.
1st Peter 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that you suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
1st Peter 3:18 For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in Spirit:
1st Peter 3:19 by which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison;
1st Peter 3:20 which at one time were disobedient, when the long-suffering of God once waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, in which a few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1st Peter 3:21 The symbol to which even baptism also now is saving us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the appeal of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1st Peter 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject to Him.
Chapter 4
1st Peter 4:1 Since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves fully likewise with the same mind: for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
1st Peter 4:2 to no longer spend the remaining time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1st Peter 4:3 For sufficient for us was the passing of the time of our life to work out the purpose of the nations, when we walked in debauchery, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries:
1st Peter 4:4 while they are stunned that you do not run around with them to the same extreme, being out of control and blaspheming.
1st Peter 4:5 They will give an account to Him that is ready to judge the living and the dead?
1st Peter 4:6 For this purpose was the gospel also preached to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh and be living according to God in the Spirit.
1st Peter 4:7 Now of all things the end is approaching: therefore, now be sober-minded and watchful into prayer.
1st Peter 4:8 And before all things have intense love inside yourselves: for love will cover the multitude of sins.
1st Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one another without complaining.
1st Peter 4:10 As each one has received the gift of grace, even so serving this to one another, as good stewards of the multifarious grace of God.
1st Peter 4:11 If any man speaks let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man serves, let him do it as of the ability which God supplies: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to Whom be praise and dominion for this age and that New Covenant age. Amen.
1st Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as
though some strange thing happened to you:
1st Peter 4:13 but rejoice, so much as you are in the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings; continue rejoicing that at the revealing of His glory, you may be elated and leap for joy.
1st Peter 4:14 If you are being verbally abused in the name of Christ, you are blessed; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part He is blasphemed, but on your part, He is honored.
1st Peter 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
1st Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
1st Peter 4:17 For the time has come that the judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begins with us, what will the end be of them that disobey the gospel of God?
1st Peter 4:18 And if the righteous is with difficulty being saved, in what place will the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1st Peter 4:19 Therefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as to a faithful Creator.
Chapter 5
1st Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, whom am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a companion of the glory that is about to be revealed:
1st Peter 5:2 feed the flock of God which is in your midst, taking the oversight of it, not by obligation, but willingly; not for base gain, but with enthusiasm;
1st Peter 5:3 neither as being lords over God’s clergy, but being examples to the flock.
1st Peter 5:4 And when the Chief Pastor is manifested, you will receive a crown of glory that will not fade away.
1st Peter 5:5 Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the older. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
1st Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:
1st Peter 5:7 casting all your cares upon Him; for He cares for you.
1st Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded, be watchful; because your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking who he may devour:
1st Peter 5:9 who resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brothers that are in the world.
1st Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who has called us into His infinite glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, make you all complete, resolute, strengthened, and constant.
1st Peter 5:11 His is the dominion into the New Covenant Age from the Old Covenant Age. Amen.
1st Peter 5:12 Through Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I maintain, I have written few things, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you are standing.
1st Peter 5:13 The Assembly that is at Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you; and so does Mark, my son.
1st Peter 5:14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
