The 1st Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians
Chapter 1
1st Cor. 1:1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
1st Cor. 1:2 to the Assembly of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in the Christ, Jesus, called to be saints, with all those in every place call on the name of Jesus the Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
1st Cor. 1:3 grace to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus, the Christ.
1st Cor. 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given to you in Jesus the Christ;
1st Cor. 1:5 that in everything you are enriched in Him, in all speech, and in all knowledge;
1st Cor. 1:6 just as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you:
1st Cor. 1:7 so that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the unveiling of our Lord Jesus, the Christ:
1st Cor. 1:8 who will also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus, the Christ.
1st Cor. 1:9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1st Cor. 1:10 Now I implore you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus, the Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be maturely joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1st Cor. 1:11 For it has been declared to me of you, my brothers, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
1st Cor. 1:12 Now this I say that each of you says, I am of Paul; and I am of Apollos; and I am of Cephas; and I am of Christ.
1st Cor. 1:13 Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you immersed in the name of Paul?
1st Cor. 1:14 I thank God that I immersed none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
1st Cor. 1:15 unless any should say that I had immersed in my own name.
1st Cor. 1:16 And I also immersed the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I immersed any other.
1st Cor. 1:17 For Christ did not send me to immerse, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, unless the cross of the Christ should be made of no effect.
1st Cor. 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that perish; but to us which are being saved it is the power of God.
1st Cor. 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1st Cor. 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1st Cor. 1:21 For after in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
1st Cor. 1:22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
1st Cor. 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness;
1st Cor. 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
1st Cor. 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiserthan men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1st Cor. 1:26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
1st Cor. 1:27 but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1st Cor. 1:28 and base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are:
1st Cor. 1:29 that no flesh should boast in His presence.
1st Cor. 1:30 But out of His doing you are in the Christ, Jesus who became wisdom to us from God and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
1st Cor. 1:31 that, according as it is written, he that is boasting, let him be boasting in the Lord.
Chapter 2
1st Cor. 2:1 And I, brothers, when I came to you, did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.
1st Cor. 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you, other than Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.
1st Cor. 2:3 I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
1st Cor. 2:4 And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1st Cor. 2:5 that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
1st Cor. 2:6 However we speak wisdom among them that are mature: yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, they are coming to nothing:
1st Cor. 2:7 but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God predetermined before this age to our glory:
1st Cor. 2:8 which none of the rulers of this age knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1st Cor. 2:9 But as it is written, eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him.
1st Cor. 2:10 But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, even the deep things of God.
1st Cor. 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God no man knows, but the Spirit of God.
1st Cor. 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1st Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches: comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1st Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually examined.
1st Cor. 2:15 But he that is spiritual examines all things, yet he himself is examined by no man.
1st Cor. 2:16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Chapter 3
1st Cor. 3:1 And I, brothers, could not speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly, just as to babes in Christ.
1st Cor. 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to handle it, neither yet now are you able.
1st Cor. 3:3 For you are yet fleshly: for where there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not fleshly, and walk as men?
1st Cor. 3:4 For while one says, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not fleshly?
1st Cor. 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by who you believed, just as the Lord gave to every man?
1st Cor. 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
1st Cor. 3:7 So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase.
1st Cor. 3:8 Now he that plants and he that waters are one: and every man will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1st Cor. 3:9 For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s building.
1st Cor. 3:10 According to the grace of God, which is given to me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let every man carefully consider how he builds on it.
1st Cor. 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus the Christ.
1st Cor. 3:12 Now if any man builds on this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1st Cor. 3:13 Every man’s work will be made manifest: for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1st Cor. 3:14 If any man’s work endures which he has built, he will receive a reward.
1st Cor. 3:15 If any man’s work will be burned, he will suffer loss: but he himself will be saved; yet so as by fire.
1st Cor. 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
1st Cor. 3:17 If any man defiles the temple of God, him will God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
1st Cor. 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1st Cor. 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He takes the wise in their own craftiness.
1st Cor. 3:20 And again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1st Cor. 3:21 Therefore let no man be boasting in men. For all things are yours;
1st Cor. 3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things about to come; all are yours;
1st Cor. 3:23 and you are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.
Chapter 4
1st Cor. 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
1st Cor. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.
1st Cor. 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yes, I judge not my own self.
1st Cor. 4:4 For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not justified by this: but He that judges me is the Lord.
1st Cor. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then will every man have praise from God.
1st Cor. 4:6 And these things, brothers, I have adapted to myself and to Apollos because of you; that you might learn in us not to be of opinions beyond that which is written, that not one of you be prideful over one against another.
1st Cor. 4:7 For who makes you to differ from another? What have you that you did not receive? Now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?
1st Cor. 4:8 Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you.
1st Cor. 4:9 For I think that God has set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.
1st Cor. 4:10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honorable, but we are despised.
1st Cor. 4:11 Even to this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are poorly clothed, and are beaten, and are homeless;
1st Cor. 4:12 and labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure it:
1st Cor. 4:13 Being defamed, we are imploring: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the scum of all things, even now.
1st Cor. 4:14 I write these things not to turn upon you, but as my beloved children I caution you.
1st Cor. 4:15 For though you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers: for in Christ Jesus, I have begotten you through the gospel.
1st Cor. 4:16 Therefore I implore you, begin copying me.
1st Cor. 4:17 For this reason have I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who will bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every Assembly.
1st Cor. 4:18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
1st Cor. 4:19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and will know, not the speech of those who are puffed up, but the power.
1st Cor. 4:20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
1st Cor. 4:21 Which do you desire? Will I come to you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?
Chapter 5
1st Cor. 5:1 It is reported commonly that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not so much as named among the nations, that one should have his father’s wife.
1st Cor. 5:2 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you.
1st Cor. 5:3 For I truthfully, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that has so done this deed,
1st Cor. 5:4 in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, and with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1st Cor. 5:5 to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1st Cor. 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
1st Cor. 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:
1st Cor. 5:8 therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and reality.
1st Cor. 5:9 I wrote to you in a letter not to keep company with sexually immoral people.
1st Cor. 5:10 Yet not altogether with the sexually immoral of this world, or with the covetous, or extortionists, or with idolaters; for then you would be required to go out of the world.
1st Cor. 5:11 But now I have written to you not to keep company, if anyone that is called in the brotherhood be sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one do not eat.
1st Cor. 5:12 For what is it to me to be judging them that are also outside? You are not judging them that are within.
1st Cor. 5:13 Now they that are outside God is judging. Therefore, remove from among yourselves that malignant person.
Chapter 6
1st Cor. 6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
1st Cor. 6:2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1st Cor. 6:3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life?
1st Cor. 6:4 If then you have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the Assembly.
1st Cor. 6:5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? No, not one that will be able to judge between his brothers.
1st Cor. 6:6 But brother goes to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
1st Cor. 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because you go to law one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? Why do you not rather permit yourselves to be defrauded?
1st Cor. 6:8 No, you do wrong, and defraud, and that your brothers.
1st Cor. 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
1st Cor. 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, will inherit the kingdom of God.
1st Cor. 6:11 Such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
1st Cor. 6:12 All things are lawful to me, but all things are not helpful: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
1st Cor. 6:13 Foods for the stomach, and the stomach for foods: but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1st Cor. 6:14 And God has both raised up the Lord and will also raise up us by His own power.
1st Cor. 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are the members of Christ? Will I then take the members of the Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbids!
1st Cor. 6:16 What? Do you not know that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? For two, says He, will be one flesh.
1st Cor. 6:17 But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
1st Cor. 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he that commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
1st Cor. 6:19 What? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?
1st Cor. 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Chapter 7
1st Cor. 7:1 Now concerning the things which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
1st Cor. 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid sexual immorality, let every man have his own wife, and let each one have her own husband.
1st Cor. 7:3 Let the husband render to the wife the debt of affection: and likewise, also the wife to the husband.
1st Cor. 7:4 The wife does not have a right over her own body, but the husband: and likewise, also the husband does not have the right over his own body, but the wife.
1st Cor. 7:5 Do not deprive one another, unless it be out of agreement for a season that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer. Then come together again, so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
1st Cor. 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
1st Cor. 7:7 For I would that all men were just like me. But every man has his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
1st Cor. 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they stay just as I.
1st Cor. 7:9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
1st Cor. 7:10 To the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, let not the wife depart from her husband:
1st Cor. 7:11 but and if she departs, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband divorce his wife.
1st Cor. 7:12 But to the rest I speak, not the Lord: if any brother has a wife that does not believe, and she is pleased to live with him, let him not leave her
1st Cor. 7:13 and the woman which has a husband that does not believe, and if he is pleased to live with her, let her not leave him.
1st Cor. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: otherwise, your children are unclean; but now they are sanctified.
1st Cor. 7:15 But if the unbelieving departs, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God has called us to peace.
1st Cor. 7:16 For what know you, oh wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how know you, O man, whether you will save your wife?
1st Cor. 7:17 But asGod has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called everyone, so let him walk. So, I ordain in all Assemblies.
1st Cor. 7:18 Is any man called being circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised.
1st Cor. 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping the precepts of God.
1st Cor. 7:20 Let every man stay in the same calling in which he was called.
1st Cor. 7:21 Are you called being a slave? Care not for it: but if you may be made free, use it rather.
1st Cor. 7:22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a slave, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise, also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s slave.
1st Cor. 7:23 You are bought with a price; do not be the slaves of men.
1st Cor. 7:24 Brethren, let every man, in which he is called, in this remain with God.
1st Cor. 7:25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that has obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
1st Cor. 7:26 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
1st Cor. 7:27 Are you bound to a wife? Seek not to be loosed. Are you free from a wife? Seek not a wife.
1st Cor. 7:28 But and if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless, such will have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.
1st Cor. 7:29 But this I say, brothers, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
1st Cor. 7:30 they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
1st Cor. 7:31 and they that use this world, as not misusing it: for the outward form of this world order is passing away.
1st Cor. 7:32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
1st Cor. 7:33 but he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
1st Cor. 7:34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
1st Cor. 7:35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare on you, but for that which is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.
1st Cor. 7:36 But if any man think that he behaves himself improperly toward his virgin, if she passes the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sins not: let them marry.
1st Cor. 7:37 Nevertheless he that stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has power over his own will, and has so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, does well.
1st Cor. 7:38 So then he that gives her in marriage does well; but he that gives her not in marriage does better.
1st Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the Law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to who she wants; only in the Lord.
1st Cor. 7:40 But she is happier if she remains single, according to my view: and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
Chapter 8
1st Cor. 8:1 Now as concerning things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
1st Cor. 8:2 And if any man think that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
1st Cor. 8:3 But if any man love God, the same is known of Him.
1st Cor. 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
1st Cor. 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many)
1st Cor. 8:6 but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by Him.
1st Cor. 8:7 However there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol to this hour eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
1st Cor. 8:8 But food commends us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.
1st Cor. 8:9 But take heed unless by any means this freedom of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak.
1st Cor. 8:10 For if any man see you who have knowledge sit at food in the idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
1st Cor. 8:11 and through your knowledge will the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1st Cor. 8:12 But when you sin so against the brothers, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
1st Cor. 8:13 Therefore, if food make my brother stumble, I will eat no meat while this age stands, so that I do not make my brother stumble.
Chapter 9
1st Cor. 9:1 Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are not you my work in the Lord?
1st Cor. 9:2 If I be not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are you in the Lord.
1st Cor. 9:3 My answer to them that do examine me is this,
1st Cor. 9:4 do we not have power to eat and to drink?
1st Cor. 9:5 Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
1st Cor. 9:6 Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to stop working?
1st Cor. 9:7 Who goes to warfare anytime at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and eats no fruit from it? Or who feeds a flock, and drinks not of the milk from it?
1st Cor. 9:8 I say these things as a man? Or does not the Law say the same also?
1st Cor. 9:9 For it is written in the Law of Moses, you will not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads out the corn. Does God take care for oxen?
1st Cor. 9:10 Or He altogether says it for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that plows should plow in hope; and he that threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.
1st Cor. 9:11 If we have sown in you spiritual things, is it too much if we will reap your material things?
1st Cor. 9:12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless, we have not used this power; but endure all things, unless we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
1st Cor. 9:13 Do you not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? They which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
1st Cor. 9:14 Even so has the Lord ordered that they which preach the gospel should get their living from the gospel.
1st Cor. 9:15 But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done to me: for it would be better for me to die, than that any man should make my boasting empty.
1st Cor. 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of: for obligation is laid upon me; yes, woe is me, if I do not preach the gospel!
1st Cor. 9:17 For if I do this willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, the stewardship of the gospel is committed to me.
1st Cor. 9:18 What is my reward then? Truthfully that, when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of the Christ without charge, that I do not misuse my authority in the gospel.
1st Cor. 9:19 For though I am free from all men, yet I have made myself the slave to all, that I might gain the more.
1st Cor. 9:20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the Law, as under the Law, that I might gain them that are under the Law;
1st Cor. 9:21 to them that are without Law, as without Law, (being not without Law to God, but in the Law of Christ) that I might gain them that are without Law.
1st Cor. 9:22 To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men that I might by all means save some.
1st Cor. 9:23 This I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker of it with you.
1st Cor. 9:24 Do you not know that they which run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain it.
1st Cor. 9:25 And every man that competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible one.
1st Cor. 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that punches the air:
1st Cor. 9:27 but I contend against my body, and bring it into service: unless that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
Chapter 10
1st Cor. 10:1 Moreover, brothers, I would not that you should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1st Cor. 10:2 and were all immersed to Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1st Cor. 10:3 and did all eat the same spiritual food;
1st Cor. 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
1st Cor. 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were thrown down in the wilderness.
1st Cor. 10:6 Now these were types of us, to the intent we should not lust after evil, as they also lusted.
1st Cor. 10:7 Neither be idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
1st Cor. 10:8 Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and fell in one day twenty-three thousand.
1st Cor. 10:9 Neither let us tempt the Christ, as some of them also tempted and were destroyed by serpents.
1st Cor. 10:10 Do not be murmuring, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
1st Cor. 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as types of us: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the end of the age has come.
1st Cor. 10:12 Therefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he be falling.
1st Cor. 10:13 There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted above what you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1st Cor. 10:14 Therefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1st Cor. 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge you what I say.
1st Cor. 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
1st Cor. 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all sharing together of that one bread.
1st Cor. 10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices, companions of the altar?
1st Cor. 10:19 What do I say then? That the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?
1st Cor. 10:20 But I say that the things which the pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I do not want you to have companionship with demons.
1st Cor. 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord’s Table, and of the table of demons.
1st Cor. 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
1st Cor. 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things bring cohesiveness: all things are lawful for me, but all things do not build the house.
1st Cor. 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s well-being.
1st Cor. 10:25 Whatever is sold in the meat market, eat it, asking no question for conscience’s sake:
1st Cor. 10:26 for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it.
1st Cor. 10:27 If any of them that believe not invite you to a feast, and you be disposed to go; whatever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience’s sake.
1st Cor. 10:28 But if any man says to you, this is offered in sacrifice to idols, eat not for his sake that showed it, and for conscience’s sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it:
1st Cor. 10:29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but of the other: for why is my freedom judged of another man’s conscience?
1st Cor. 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
1st Cor. 10:31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1st Cor. 10:32 Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Greeks, nor to the Assembly of God:
1st Cor. 10:33 just as I please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
Chapter 11
1st Cor. 11:1 Be followers of me, just as I also am of Christ.
1st Cor. 11:2 Now I praise you, brothers, that you remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
1st Cor. 11:3 But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
1st Cor. 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.
1st Cor. 11:5 But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head: for that is even like one if she was shaven.
1st Cor. 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
1st Cor. 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
1st Cor. 11:8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
1st Cor. 11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the man.
1st Cor. 11:10 For this reason should the woman have a symbol of authority on her head because of the angels?
1st Cor. 11:11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
1st Cor. 11:12 For as the woman is out of the man, even so is the man through the woman; but all things are out of God.
1st Cor. 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it proper that a woman pray to God uncovered?
1st Cor. 11:14 Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame to him?
1st Cor. 11:15 But if a woman wears her hair long, it is a glory to her: because her long hair instead of a veil has been given to her.
1st Cor. 11:16 But if any man seems to be fond of disputes, we have no such custom, neither the Assemblies of God.
1st Cor. 11:17 Now in this that I declare to you I praise you not, that you come together not for the better, but for the worse.
1st Cor. 11:18 For first of all, when you come together in the Assembly, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
1st Cor. 11:19 For there also must be heresies among you that they which are tested by fire and proved genuine may begin to shine in you.
1st Cor. 11:20 When you come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.
1st Cor. 11:21 For in eating everyone takes before the other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
1st Cor. 11:22 What? Have you not houses to eat and to drink in? Or do you despise the Assembly of God, and shame them that have not? What should I say to you? Should I praise you in this? I praise you not.
1st Cor. 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:
1st Cor. 11:24 And when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said, take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me.
1st Cor. 11:25 After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, this cup is the new covenant in My blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.
1st Cor. 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord’s death until He comes.
1st Cor. 11:27 Therefore whoever will eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, in an unworthy manner, will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
1st Cor. 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1st Cor. 11:29 For eating and drinking in an unworthy manner, eats and drinks judgment on themselves, not discerning the Lord’s body.
1st Cor. 11:30 For this reason many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
1st Cor. 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
1st Cor. 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
1st Cor. 11:33 Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait one for another.
1st Cor. 11:34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that you come not together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.
Chapter 12
1st Cor. 12:1 Now concerning spirituality, brothers, I would not have you ignorant.
1st Cor. 12:2 You know that when you were of the nations, carried away to these dumb idols, just as you were led.
1st Cor. 12:3 Therefore I make known to you, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.
1st Cor. 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1st Cor. 12:5 And there are diversities of ministry, but the same Lord.
1st Cor. 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which works all things in all.
1st Cor. 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the urgent situation.
1st Cor. 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit a word of wisdom; to another a word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1st Cor. 12:9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healings by the same Spirit;
1st Cor. 12:10 to another the operations of powers; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another varieties of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1st Cor. 12:11 but that one and the very same Spirit operates all these things, distributing to each one individually as He intends.
1st Cor. 12:12 For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is the Christ.
1st Cor. 12:13 For by one Spirit we are all immersed into one body, whether we are Jews or Greeks, whether we are slaves or free; and all are drinking into one Spirit.
1st Cor. 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
1st Cor. 12:15 If the foot will say, because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
1st Cor. 12:16 And if the ear will say, because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
1st Cor. 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where is the hearing? If the whole is hearing, where is the smelling?
1st Cor. 12:18 But presently God has set the members each one of them in the body, as it has pleased Him.
1st Cor. 12:19 If they were all one member, where is the body?
1st Cor. 12:20 But presently there are many members, yet one body.
1st Cor. 12:21 The eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the head to the feet, I do not need you.
1st Cor. 12:22 No, much more those members of the body, which we think to be weaker, are necessary:
1st Cor. 12:23 and those members of the body, which we think to be without honor, on these we assign more abundant honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater appropriateness.
1st Cor. 1:24 For our appropriate parts have no need: but God has blended together the body, having given more abundant value to that part which has come short.
1st Cor. 12:25 That there should be no division in the body; but that the members should have the same care for one another.
1st Cor. 12:26 And when one member suffers, all the members suffer together; or one member be glorified, all the members rejoice together.
1st Cor. 12:27 Now you are a body of Christ, and member parts.
1st Cor. 12:28 And God has set some in the Assembly, first apostles, second prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and diversities of tongues.
1st Cor. 12:29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
1st Cor. 12:30 Do all have the gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
1st Cor. 12:31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts: and yet I point you to a more transcendent way.
Chapter 13
1st Cor. 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.
1st Cor. 13:2 And though I possess prophecy, and understand all secrets, and all knowledge; and though I have all the faith, so that I could remove the mountain, and do not have love, I am a nothing.
1st Cor. 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits no one.
1st Cor. 13:4 Love is patient and is kind; love is not jealous; love is not boastful, is not full of self-importance,
1st Cor. 13:5 does not behave inappropriately, is not self-seeking, is not exasperated, thinks no evil;
1st Cor. 13:6 does not rejoice in evil things, but rejoices in the reality;
1st Cor. 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1st Cor. 13:8 Love never falls away: but whether prophecies, they are put away; whether there be tongues, they will pause; whether there is knowledge, it will be put away.
1st Cor. 13:9 Out of the part we are knowing, and out of the part we are prophesying.
1st Cor. 13:10 And while maturity is coming, then that which is out of the part will be put away.
1st Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke randomly, I had the mindset of a child, so I put things together as a child: but when I had become a man, I put away the immaturity.
1st Cor. 13:12 For the present we are seeing through a mirror, in a riddle; but at that time face to face: presently I am beginning to know out of the part; but at that time, I will fully know just as I also am fully known.
1st Cor. 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Chapter 14
1st Cor. 14:1 Strive to gain love, and be zealous for spirituality, and more that you may be prophesying.
1st Cor. 14:2 For he that speaks in a tongue speaks not to people, but to God: for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
1st Cor. 14:3 But he that prophesies speaks to people for building up, and exhortation, and comfort.
1st Cor. 14:4 He that speaks in a tongue builds up himself; but he that prophesies builds up the Assembly.
1st Cor. 14:5 I desire that you all spoke in a tongue, but rather that you prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks in a tongue, unless he interprets, that the Assembly may receive building up.
1st Cor. 14:6 Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in a tongue, what will I profit you, unless I will speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by teaching?
1st Cor. 14:7 And even things without life giving sound, whether flute or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played?
1st Cor. 14:8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
1st Cor. 14:9 So likewise you, unless you utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how will it be known what is spoken? For you will speak into the air.
1st Cor. 14:10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without significance.
1st Cor. 14:11 Therefore if I do not know the meaning of the sound, I will be to him that speaks as a foreigner, and he that speaks will be a foreigner to me.
1st Cor. 14:12 Even so you, since you are eager for the Spirit, seek that you may transcend into the building up of the Assembly.
1st Cor. 14:13 Therefore let him that speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
1st Cor. 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is not profited.
1st Cor. 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the mind also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the mind also.
1st Cor. 14:16 Otherwise when you will bless with the spirit, how will he that occupies the room of the uninformed say Amen at your giving of thanks, because he does not see what you are saying?
1st Cor. 14:17 For you are really giving thanks well, but the other is not built up.
1st Cor. 14:18 I thank my God, I speak in a tongue more than you all:
1st Cor. 14:19 yet in the Assembly I had rather speak five words with my mind, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
1st Cor. 14:20 Brethren, do not be children in understanding: however in wickedness be children, but in understanding be mature.
1st Cor. 14:21 In the Law it is written, with one of another tongue and in different lips I will speak to this people; and
in this manner they will not hear Me says the LORD.
1st Cor. 14:22 Therefore the tongue is for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that do not believe: but prophesying serves not for them that do not believe, but for those who believe.
1st Cor. 14:23 If therefore the whole Assembly comes together into one place, and all speak in a tongue, and there come in those that are uninformed, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are insane?
1st Cor. 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believes not, or one uninformed, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:
1st Cor. 14:25 and thus the secrets of his heart are made evident; and so, falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is certainly in you.
1st Cor. 14:26 How is it then, brothers? When you come together, each one of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, and has an interpretation. Let all things be performed for the building!
1st Cor. 14:27 If any man speaks in a tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and each by turn; and let one interpret.
1st Cor. 14:28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the Assembly; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
1st Cor. 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the others discuss.
1st Cor. 14:30 If anything be revealed to another that sits by, let the first hold his peace.
1st Cor. 14:31 For you may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be encouraged.
1st Cor. 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1st Cor. 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the Assemblies of the saints.
1st Cor. 14:34 The wives must be silent in the Assemblies; for they are not permitted to talk randomly, but they must be in submission, just as the Law also says,
1st Cor. 14:35 but if they want to learn something let them ask their own husbands at home. For it is inappropriate for wives to talk randomly in the Assembly.
1st Cor. 14:36 What? Did the word of God originate from you? Or did it originate from you only?
1st Cor. 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.
1st Cor. 14:38 But if anyone does not acknowledge this, let him not be acknowledged.
1st Cor. 14:39 Therefore, brothers, eagerly desire to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
1st Cor. 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Chapter 15
1st Cor. 15:1 Moreover, brothers, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you have received, and in which you stand;
1st Cor. 15:2 by which you are being saved, if you keep in memory what I preached to you, unless you have believed in vain.
1st Cor. 15:3 For I delivered to you first that which I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
1st Cor. 15:4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:
1st Cor. 15:5 and that He was seen of Cephas, then by the twelve:
1st Cor. 15:6 after that, He was seen by above five hundred brothers at once; of who the greater part remain to this time, but some have fallen asleep.
1st Cor. 15:7 After that, He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.
1st Cor. 15:8 And last of all He was seen of me also, as one whose birth was premature.
1st Cor. 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, and not suitable to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the Assembly of God.
1st Cor. 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and His grace which was bestowed on me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than them all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
1st Cor. 15:11 Therefore whether it was I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
1st Cor. 15:12 Now if Christ is being preached that He rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection out from the dead?
1st Cor. 15:13 But if there is no resurrection out from the dead, then Christ is not risen:
1st Cor. 15:14 and if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is also vain.
1st Cor. 15:15 Yes, and we are found as false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that He raised up the Christ: Whom He has not raised up, seeing that in effect, the dead are not being raised.
1st Cor. 15:16 For if the dead are not being raised, then if Christ has not been raised:
1st Cor. 15:17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; and you are yet in your sins.
1st Cor. 15:18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
1st Cor. 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
1st Cor. 15:20 But now is Christ risen out from the dead and became the first fruits of them that slept.
1st Cor. 15:21 For since by man came death, by man also came the resurrection of the dead.
1st Cor. 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in the Christ all will be made alive.
1st Cor. 15:23 But each man in his own sequential order: Christ, the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s, in His Presence.
1st Cor. 15:24 Then comes the end, when He will have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father, when He will have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1st Cor. 15:25 For He must reign, until He has put all enemies under His feet.
1st Cor. 15:26 The last enemy that is being destroyed: death.
1st Cor. 15:27 For He has put all things under His feet. But when He says all things are put under Him, it is manifest that He is exempt, which did put all things under Him.
1st Cor. 15:28 And when all things will be subdued to Him, then will the Son also Himself be subject to Him that put all things under Him that God may be all in all.
1st Cor. 15:29 Then what will they do who are immersed for the dead, if the dead do not rise at all? Why are they then immersed for the dead?
1st Cor. 15:30 And why do we stand in jeopardy every hour?
1st Cor. 15:31 I affirm by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
1st Cor. 15:32 If according to men I have fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what does it profit me, if the dead are not being raised? Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die.
1st Cor. 15:33 Be not deceived: evil companionship ruins a good disposition.
1st Cor. 15:34 Wake up to what is proper, and do not sin; for some have no knowledge of God: I am speaking to your dysfunction.
1st Cor. 15:35 But some man will say, how are the dead being raised? And what body are they coming?
1st Cor. 15:36 You fool, that which you sow is not given life, unless it dies:
1st Cor. 15:37 and that which you sow, you do not sow that body that will be, but bare grain, it may be of wheat, or of some other grain:
1st Cor. 15:38 but God gives it a body as He purposed, and to each seed a body of its own.
1st Cor. 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but one indeed of men, another flesh of beasts, another of birds, and another of fish.
1st Cor. 15:40 There are also heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies: but the glory of the heavenly is different, and the glory of the earthly is another.
1st Cor. 15:41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differs from another star in glory.
1st Cor. 15:42 So also is the rising of the dead. It is being sown in corruption; it is being raised in incorruption:
1st Cor. 15:43 it is being sown in dishonor; it is being raised in glory: it is being sown in weakness; it is being raised in power:
1st Cor. 15:44 it is being sown a soulish body; it is being raised a spiritual body! There is a soulish body, and there is a spiritual body.
1st Cor. 15:45 And so it is written, the first man Adam became a living soul; this last Adam into a life-giving spirit.
1st Cor. 15:46 However that which was first was not spiritual, but that which is soulish; and afterward that which is spiritual.
1st Cor. 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is out of heaven.
1st Cor. 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
1st Cor. 15:49 And as we bear the image of the earthy, we will also wear the image of the heavenly.
1st Cor. 15:50 Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
1st Cor. 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be altered,
1st Cor. 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for a trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be altered.
1st Cor. 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1st Cor. 15:54 So when this corruptible will have put on incorruption, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will be brought to pass the saying that is written, O Death is swallowed up in triumph.
1st Cor. 15:55 In what place O Death, is your piercing? In what place O Hades, is your triumph?
1st Cor. 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the Law.
1st Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, who causes us this triumph through our Lord Jesus Christ!
1st Cor. 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, since as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Chapter 16
1st Cor. 16:1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the Assemblies of Galatia, even so do you.
1st Cor. 16:2 On the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God has prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
1st Cor. 16:3 And when I come, whomever you will approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your gift to Jerusalem.
1st Cor. 16:4 If it be suitable that I go also, they will go with me.
1st Cor. 16:5 Now I will come to you, when I will pass through Macedonia: for I do pass through Macedonia.
1st Cor. 16:6 And it may be that I will stay, yes, and winter with you, that you may bring me on my journey to wherever I go.
1st Cor. 16:7 For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to stay a while with you, if the Lord permit.
